P e r s o n a l i t y When it comes to Ikikesans, Kyo remains, to this day, one of the most erratic members. Posessing a wide streak of pride for his race, and what can only be called a hot-head, known for rushing into situations without really thinking his way through. Calling him a hot-head can sometimes be rather... understated. Kyo has a temper, and frequently explodes. One tell-tale sign is a peculiar twitch that he gets in, of all places, his right shoulder. He can be smiling, eyes still laughing, but if his right shoulder starts twitching, it's usually up to Shouga or Supaisu to try to soothe his temper. His outbursts are usually short, and are rarely violent, unless it's someone insulting or threatening his two best friends or his family. Of course, if his outburst does result in violence, he will lunge at his enemy without any regard for his own safety, and will not stop unless his enemy is on the ground, he's on the ground, or he's forcibly restrained by his friends. As you've probably guessed, Kyo is remarkably protective of those around him. While his bonding had nothing to do with love and was duty and convenience, he has grown to care deeply for his wife, and loves his son with all his heart. In fact, it's often Taimu, his wife, who manages to calm him through their bond. And around Meboki, his son, Kyo is at his calmest, rarely ever losing his temper. Around Shouga and Supaisu, Kyo becomes something of a troublemaker, always encouraging them to prank those around them or sneak out of the palace for a day in the desert. Like Supaisu, Kyo can always be found with a cheerful expression, though instead of a lazy grin, it's a rather rogueish grin that always seems to be looking for more trouble. He also tends to be a bit of an ass to Banira, always spouting off horrible jokes that might make even the distant woman want to beat him over the head with a blunt object. As far as his kleptomania goes, Kyo has turned it into a great joke. After the strange occurrence ten years ago, Kyo would often find strange objects in his pocket, ones that he didn't remember putting there. Mostly, it was small items, such as stones, pens, and candles. In fact, an ongoing tease that he can't shake is the one time that a lit candle found it's way into his pocket, and his zhongshan suit went up in flames before he realized what had happened. The lack of memory of actually taking the objects fustrates Kyo, but he tries to ignore it, and just makes a joke of it, often remarking to Shouga or Supaisu that he needs to be patted down and given a full-cavity search... And after the awkward silence, he'll jokingly ask Supaisu if he'd do it, or ask to go home to his wife for fourty-five minutes. Despite his rather immature ways at time, Kyo is a priest to his core, and shows it at times. It was Kyo who held the Elders back and told them to let Supaisu talk to Shouga instead of anyone else. And while Kyo has settled into his married life and seems content with the arranged marriage, he has spoken against it at times, argueing that the Elders need flexibility. Because of this, the Elders often find many reasons for Kyo to be away, either on a visit to the Orin Temple to exchange news with the monks there, or even just some kind of task that doesn't involve him talking to others, such as guard duty on the outskirts of the colony. He believes wholeheartedly that there must be a better balance between the re-population of their people, and the happiness of their people. The story of Banira pisses him off to no end, as does the tragedy of his twin brother's life. In fact, if he ever managed to find his twin's long-lost fiance, he'd probably shake her hand and thank her for running away. ... Then crack a really bad joke. |

B i o g r a p h y Born just shortly after the landing of the Ikikesans on earth, Kyo was the younger of the two twins born to an Ikikesan woman who had lost her husband. Somehow, the woman managed to survive for the first few years of their lives before passing on. Kyo and his twin brother, Karashi, were sent to be raised at the newly-built temple at age six, while their younger sister vanished in the streets, becoming one of many orphans. While Kyo, nicknamed Ginger, was a holy terror that gave the monks heart attacks at least twice a day, his twin, Karashi, who was nicknamed Mustado, was a good-natured... Well, idiot. As they got older, it wasn't uncommon for Kyo to stare at his twin incredulously. Kyo stayed in the temple, becoming a novice, while Karashi decided to become a tailor. This amused Kyo to no end, due to the fact that he knew that his brother became a tailor for men's clothing for a rather... specific reason. Still, Karashi always sent his brother clothes, and jokingly made baby clothes and packed them away for his brother, teasing him about when he had kids someday. During his time in the temple training, Kyo met the crown prince and the younger monk, Supaisu, and became fast friends with the two, forming a trio of terror. And that trio only became worse when Shouga's sisters joined in with the fun. Add in Karashi, and the six adolescents gave the Elders more grey hairs then they cared to think about. At age fifteen, both Kyo and Karashi were brought before the elders together, and told that they would be announcing their engagements the next day. Kyo to a girl named Taimu, and Karashi to a girl named Shio. Because both girls were younger, the actual marriage would not happen for a couple of years. The day that the engagements were announced, however, word reached the Elders that Shio had fled in the middle of the night to escape the pending engagement. Kyo, who had been angry for his brother, was secretly relieved by this and lit a stick of incense for Shio every night for a month, silently thanking her for the act. At age eighteen, Kyo and Taimu, age sixteen, were wed after three years of waiting. The two had made some attempt to get to know each other, but had rather failed at it. In the three years leading up to their engagement, Kyo himself had been travelling from the colony in the company of other monks, learning of the outside word and making tentative alliances to protect themselves. Particularly, the monks began to visit the Orin Temple to the east, and began to cement relations with the Buddhist monks. For the first year of their marriage, Kyo was baffled, and often seemed confused to those around him, though he still had enough sense to ask Supaisu if he was all right when Sansho ran away. Like the others, Kyo worried over the youngest of the royal family, though he supported Supaisu's decision to wait to follow her. It didn't stop him from calling Supaisu 'Sir Jilted', however. Finally, however, the two began to tentatively explore their relationship and their bond. The act that drove them together, however, was the strange occurence ten years ago. Feeling as though every fiber in him was being torn apart, Kyo fell unconscious, falling and cracking his head on the ground. It was Taimu who woke first and managed to save Kyo's life. He freely will state that without his wife, he would have bled out and died that day. The day, however, was not without tragedy. Karashi had been working on the roof of his home, repairing some minor damage caused by a particularly bad sandstorm, and had fallen off of the roof, snapping his neck when he hit the ground. Taimu spent the next couple of months helping her husband recover, and trying to comfort him in his grief. Her deep well of compassion had a startling impact on the monk. The two finally began to open to each other since their marriage a year ago. ... And within a year, Taimu was pregnant. At age twenty, Kyo celebrated the birth of his son, Meboki Karashi Midori. Naturally he spoiled his son endlessly and dressed him in garments that had been made by his brother. Kyo spent as much time as he could at home with his wife and son, but found himself being pulled away more and more for trips to the outside world, though he often couldn't say why. He also began to wear a dark silver circlet over his forhead, though many speculate that it was in honor of his brother, who had been fond of the color. During this time, Kyo began to show signs of kleptomania. While he mostly pocketted incense, pens, and other small objects, others began to notice other pieces going missing. The final factor that gave a clue to Kyo's malady was when he somehow took a glove from Shouga without either of them noticing. In fact, it was Supaisu who saw the glove sticking out of Kyo's pocket. Observation over the next few weeks showed that Kyo indeed had no idea what he was doing, or why. This of course caused Kyo to joke that it fitted for him to get the idiotic mental issue. The years continued, and Kyo did what he could to help those around him, as he had for Supaisu when Sansho left him at the altar, and the tentative words of support to Banira. Although he was against Banira losing her children, he had to reluctantly admit that she wasn't fit to care for her children until she could restore her mental energies. And when Keihi was killed, Kyo punched a wall before going to help Supaisu comfort Shouga before finally throwing his hands up and letting Supaisu have at the mourning prince. Fast forward, and Kyo, being the evil 'uncle' that he is, supported and egged Kaya on in her insistence to follow Supaisu to find Sansho. Although he didn't want to force Sansho back, he was of the mindset that going out into the world was a good idea, and that it might help the prince. While Shouga seemed better, there were still moments that had him worrying about a possible relapse in depression. ... And in an act of irony, Kyo was roped into going with him. With Taimu teasing him and keeping in contact through their bond, Kyo shouldered his staff and trudged after Shouga. Really, he was forced into it by the Elders, who blamed him for Kaya's insistence and Shouga leaving the colony, and got stuck with bodyguard duty. ... But he's okay with that. Because he sucks at being a bodyguard the same way that Shouga sucks- [CENSORED] |
