Persona:
Due to never having met his father, Vegeta, and growing up in an apocalyptic world, Trunks is nothing like his normal timeline's counterpart. This of course means, that unlike the Trunks of the normal timeline, Mirai Trunks is nothing like his father Vegeta. He is a very cautious and serious individual, unlike his alternate timeline counterpart. Also, Mirai Trunks is also very polite and courteous, especially toward his mother, and mentor.
Because of coming from the future, Trunks believes he has knowledge of what's going to happen. Because of this, he often classfies things as things that will matter, and things that won't. Normally, in the long run, he'll be right, but there are times when he has been wrong, and has shown great surprise at the realization. This is thought to be because of him changing the past's timeline. He also shows great restraint in doing anything during the normal timeline, unless Goku is there.
Trunks has also been known to show arrogance and cockiness when he holds the upperhand against his opponent. However, this disappears instantly when he realizes he's lost the advantage. This was best shown when he transformed into an Ultra Super Saiyan during his fight with Cell, only to have Cell dodge all of his attacks. Also, unlike his father and counterpart, Trunks is shown to be very polite and well-mannered. This is shown through his speech, as he often used the polite form of speech in the Japanese version of the anime.
History:
Alternate Timeline:
Future Trunks was born in age 766, in an alternate timeline, one in which Android 17 and Android 18 continually terrorize the Earth's populace. Around three fourths of the world's population has been killed, including the Z-fighters, sans Gohan. In this timeline, Goku dies of a heart disease six months before the androids awaken and begin destroying the planet. To their dismay, this leaves Vegeta and the other Z-fighters to try their hand at stopping the androids. However, as the androids were designed to be able to beat Goku, they are all killed, except for Gohan, who somehow managed to escape. Over the course of the next three years, Gohan becomes the mentor of Trunks, and teaches him everything he knows, including the ability to become a Super Saiyan. However, Trunks is unable to attain the emotional breaching point, and just can't manage to transform into a Super Saiyajin.
At one point, Gohan and teenage Trunks face off against the androids. Due to his lack of experience, he's cornered by Android 18, and Gohan is forced to take the hit to protect Trunks, thus losing his left arm. They escape, and Trunks repeatedly tries to attain Super Saiyajin during his training, but still can't quite manage it. It isn't until Trunks is knocked out by Gohan, who eventually dies in the ensuing fight with the androids, and then awakens to find his mentor's body, does Trunks finally reach Super Saiyajin. Trunks then goes on to train for a few years to avenge his fallen mentor, only to still struggle against the androids.

Time Travel:
After a narrow escape from the androids, Bulma revealed a time machine that she had been working on for quite some time to Trunks. She then asks him to save Goku from his heart disease, and gives Trunks the medication that will save Goku. Traveling back in time, Trunks comes in contact with not only the Z-fighters, but also Mecha Frieza and his father King Cold. However, with Trunks now being able to become a Super Saiyajin, he makes quick work of Frieza, his father, and their henchmen. At this point, Trunks then takes the Z-fighters to where Goku will reappear, and as they get there, that is indeed what he does, using the instant transmission technique. After this, Trunks finds out that he interfered with the timeline needlessly, as Goku was prepared to use the instant transmission to step in and stop Frieza.
After realizing this, Trunks informs Goku of the Androids that will awaken in three years time, and tells him not to tell anyone else. However, Piccolo's sensitive ears overhear the conversation, and while the two are still talking, informs the rest of the Z-fighters of the future, inspiring the heroes to train their hardest for the next three years. However, this revelation alters the future slightly. With this though, Trunks returns to his own timeline for the time being.
The Androids and Cell:[/b][/u]
The three years have passed, and during the fight with Android 19 and Android 20, Trunks returns to the original timeline, only to find the remains of Android 19, and Android 20, two androids he had never encountered before in his own timeline. It was at this point, he realized this timeline was branching off considerably from his own. Because Trunks warned the Z-fighters of the androids coming, the Z-fighters had trained the past three years, making the androids of this timeline considerably stronger than their future timeline counterparts. At one point, Android 18, the weakest of the three androids, was even capable of defeating Vegeta and Trunks while both were in their Super Saiyajin states.
Eventually, Cell from another alternate time line is revealed, and hatches from his larval state. From there, he makes it his mission to absorb the androids so that he can gain access to his perfect form. Because of the androids, and Cell's strength, being greater than any of the Z-fighters' own, they once again go to train, this time in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. It was during this time that Trunks ascended to the Ultra Super Saiyajin state, believing himself to have surpassed Vegeta in terms of strength. However, during this time, Trunks notices Vegeta's Saiyajin pride, and hides his true power from his father, out of fear for not wanting to upset him. However, Trunks was unaware of the fact, or reason, as to why Vegeta purposely didn't ascend.
Combating Cell:[/b][/u]
Trunks was the second Saiyajin to take on perfect Cell, after his father was defeated due to his arrogance and pride in allowing him to absorb Android 18. During the fight, Trunks revealed his true power in the form of the Ultra Super Saiyajin form, and continued to augment his power as the fight progressed. However, due to his inexperience, Trunks failed to realize that the added muscel mass was significantly debilitating his speed, and his energy consumption was augmented to the point where it would be difficult to maintain the state. At this point, Trunks gives up hope before Cell. Instead of killing him though, Cell was intrigued by how much more powerful he had become in such a short period of time. He then issued a challenge to the Z-fighters, telling them to train for ten days, and to then meet him at a specified location, where he would be holding the Cell Games. At this, Trunks spread the word to the other Z-fighters, and then went back to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, again training for a whole year, in just a single day.
Unfortunately, when he emerged, Trunks's power level hadn't increased as greatly as it had done before, and instead of facing off against Cell, he was forced to fight one Cell's smaller clones, the Cell Jrs. Even these clones proved to much for Trunks, and eventually he forced to drop out of his Super Saiyajin state, unlike his father. After Cell self-destructs due to fear of Super Saiyajin 2 Gohan, he uses the single cell that survived in his core to regenerate himself, now stronger than ever. Upon reviving, Cell fired a blast that pierced Trunks through the chest, killing him. This seemed to be a random shot though, as after Trunks died, Cell replied with "Trunks? Oh, so that's who I killed..."
This caused a drastic change in Vegeta who had become enraged at the the thought of someone who cared for him being killed, revealing his affection for his son. Vegeta gives every ounce of power he has to try and stop Cell, but to no avail, as he half-heartedly knocked Vegeta out with a single blow. When going to kill Vegeta in the sammer manner as Trunks, Gohan shields Vegeta from the blow, at the cost of half his power, and the use of his left arm. After Cell's defeat, the dead Trunks is taken to Kami's Lookout, where he's revived by Shenron. When told of how his father reacted, Trunks was shockingly proud of his father.
Back to the Future:[/b][/u]
After the celebration of Cell's defeat, and during Trunks's farewells to everyone, Vegeta acknowledges Trunks. Trunks then returns to his own timeline so he can have his revenge for killing all of the Z-fighters of his own timeline. During his time with Bulma, Trunks overhears a news report stating where the androids are attacking. He then turns into his Super Saiyajin state, and flies off to where the androids are attacking. Right before the androids succeed in killing yet another innocent man, Trunks hurls a blast of energy at Android 17, just barely missing him.
At this, the androids, who believed themselves to still be stronger, rushed in foolishly at Trunks, clearly underestimating him. Trunks easily dodges their attacks, and obliterates Android 18 with a point-blank energy blast. Shocked by this turn of events, Android 17 looks on disbelief, which turns to rage. He charges in on Trunks once again, only for Trunks to do the same to him, obliterating him in a single blast. With that, all seems at peace, except for one thing... this timeline's Cell.
Trunks waits for three years before Cell finally awakens. When he does, Cell begins roaming around in his weakest form, looking for the two androids that had been killed three years prior. While doing this, he comes across Trunks and Bulma, who are saying their goodbyes near the time machine. As Trunks is about to leave to inform the original timeline's Z-fighters of his success, he senses Cell and sends his mother away for her own safety. After she leaves, he turns toward Cell and begins taunting him with his knowledge from the alternate past. He then tells Cell that he has already killed the androids of this timeline.
Cell, under the impression that Trunks was still at the power level he was before travelling through time, begins approaching Trunks. When the fight begins however, Cell soon finds himself outclassed by Trunks as he's hurled out of the city limits by a single ki blast. Once out of the city, Trunks turns into his Super Saiyajin form, and continues to pound on the essentially helpless Cell. During the fight, he yells that Cell must die, and in response, Cell attempts to stab him with his tail, only to have Trunks grab it, swinging him around and tossing him into the air. At this point, Cell realizes he's no match for Trunks, and attempts to fire off a Kamehameha that will destroy the planet, knowing full well that he could survive in space. He begins powering up, but can't finish the technique in time, as Trunks destroys him with a massive, destructive wave of energy known as the Heat Dome attack, which incinerates ever cell of Cell's body. At this point, Trunks travels back into the past, to thank Goku and his friends in the past, one last time.

List of Techniques Known:[/b][/u]
Speed and Movement Techniques:[/b][/u]
Flight:
The user manipulates their ki so that they are able to fly. Most warriors in the Dragon Ball universe can do this
Transformations:[/b][/u]
Super Saiyajin:
The first Super Saiyan transformation occurs when a Saiyan who has reached a very high level of power, has a calm, pure heart (good or evil), and loses himself in a fit of rage. However, the transformation must be triggered in response to a great need, example being in Goku's case to defeat Frieza. While physical change is not too drastic, the power output increase is colossal. The transformation has a noticeable effect on the Saiyan's personality. Any Saiyan that has turned to the side of good initially becomes ruthless and overcome with rage, and any Saiyan that was already ruthless to begin with has his ruthlessness amplified.
The most noticeable change is that the Saiyan's hair becomes golden in color and seems to stand on end, giving it a rising, flame-like appearance. This applies to all of the Saiyan's hair, including scalp hair, eyebrows, and (as it was revealed in GT) the fur on their tails and as Golden Great Apes. Natural eye color temporarily changes to a greenish-blue, muscle tone becomes more defined, and the skin tone (and clothing) becomes lighter mainly due to the energy and light output of the golden aura. As the natural floodgates of the body are opened with the transformation, excess energy is radiated from the body in the form of a pulsing, flame-like aura.
Ascended Super Saiyajin:
is the first branch of advanced Super Saiyan, achieved through intense training in the Super Saiyan form. It is a forced increase in the power output of the initial transformation, and thus is not in itself an actual transformation. This stage appears similar to that of a Super Saiyan, with subtle differences. The flowing, golden hair becomes slightly more rigid and pales in color. Muscle mass also heavily increases, but not enough however to weigh the user down and reduce mobility (unlike the next stage of Super Saiyan, Ultra Super Saiyan), and the Saiyan retains their agility. As a result of the muscle increase, the Saiyan's outfit pertaining to the upper torso area will also end up shredded apart, as evidenced by Future Trunk's transformation into the form while fighting Broly resulting in his jacket being torn to shreds. The aura increases in size and becomes more jagged, accompanied by bio-electrical discharge during transformation or when preparing a massive attack
Ultra Super Saiyajin:
is the second branch of advanced Super Saiyan, achieved through intense training in the Super Saiyan form. This form is not related to the third branch of Super Saiyan (Full-Power Super Saiyan). Like the Ascended Super Saiyan stage, it is a forced increase in the power output of the initial transformation, and thus is not in itself an actual transformation. All natural inhibitions of the body are completely removed in this state, resulting in 100% utilization of strength and stamina reserves. In this stage, the Saiyan is similar in appearance to the Legendary Super Saiyan form. The skin of the Saiyan may become slightly redder due to increased blood flow, and muscle size is increased to the point of practical ridiculousness. The aura no longer flows upward, but flails outward, with surges of bio-electricity becoming more frequent and prominent. In the series, the Ultra Super Saiyan form was discovered as an advanced stage of Ascended Super Saiyan (itself an advanced stage of the Super Saiyan transformation) that further increased the physical strength of the Super Saiyan form. However, due to this form being so muscular, mass is increased to the point where the user's speed is reduced to debilitating levels. In addition, the Saiyan's energy rapidly depletes due to the effort needed simply to maintain the transformation. Altogether, the negatives of this stage outweigh the positives.
Super Saiyajin 2:
is the direct successor to the first Super Saiyan transformation. It is very similar to the original form in appearance and attainment, however the power output is far greater, as speed, strength, and energy output all drastically increase. In order to achieve this transformation, the Saiyan must first gain a huge amount of energy (usually by training), far beyond that required for the first Super Saiyan form. Once enough energy is acquired, the Saiyan must experience a powerful emotional upheaval, much like the Super Saiyan transformation, but to a greater extent.
Super Saiyajin 3:
It is the third form of Super Saiyan, the successor to the first and second transformations (the branch stages are not separate transformations, but rather extensions). Where the third stage of Super Saiyan's purpose was 100% utilization of physical stamina, the purpose of the Super Saiyan 3 transformation is to increase the utilization of ki, and as a result, the transformation rapidly consumes the energy of the user, which leads to extended levels of fatigue, even long after powering down. If the user has died and is not encumbered by a living body, this strain is reduced somewhat, and additional energy depletion is minimized. The difference between Super Saiyan 3 and Super Saiyan 2, its predecessor, are immediately noticeable as speed, strength and endurance are all pushed past normal limits. According to the Daizenshuu, the Super Saiyan 3 form gives the user four times the strength of a Super Saiyan 2.
Energy-Based Attacks:[/b][/u]
Ki Blast:
The most basic of all Ki attacks. Is sends a blast of ki at the opponent.
Masenko:
The attack is performed by the user placing both hands above the head with the palms facing the target and one hand in front of the other with the fingers going in opposite directions. When the user thrusts their hands forward, they call the name and fire a beam of yellow, white, or orange energy.
Buster Cannon:
is an energy wave used by Future Trunks. Future Trunks draws his hands behind his back and charges two blue energy spheres in his hands. Then, he combines them together in front of him to fire a blue energy wave at the opponent, inflicting a great amount of damage.
Super Buster Cannon:
A More powerful version of the normal Buster Cannon.
Burning Storm:
is a one-handed rapid-fired version of the Buster Cannon used by Future Trunks. First, Future Trunks places his hands forward at 90 degree angle and charges a blue energy sphere. Then he fires a barrage of energy spheres from the energy sphere at the opponent, inflicting a great deal of damage
Finish Buster:
is an energy sphere used by Future Trunks in his Ascended Super Saiyan form. First, Future Trunks raises his hands and charges a large, golden-yellow energy sphere. Then, he swings his hands down and fires the attack at the opponent, inflicting a huge amount of damage.
Super Finish Buster:
A more powerful version of the normal Finish Buster.
Kamehameha:
The Kamehameha is formed when cupped hands are drawn to the user's side and the ki is concentrated into a single point between the cupped hands. The hands are then thrust forward to shoot out a streaming, powerful beam of energy. The blast can also be used, generally under extenuating circumstances, with just one arm or even the feet. In most variants, the user utters the word "Ka-me-ha-me-HA!!!" as he/she charges and releases the attack.
God Breaker:
is an energy wave used by Future Trunks in his Super Saiyan form. First, Trunks extends his hand forward and fires a yellow energy wave at the opponent, inflicting a great amount of damage.
Another End:
is a rush attack used by Future Trunks in his Super Saiyan form. First, Future Trunks charges at the opponent and kicks them away. Then, he jumps up into the air and fires a God Breaker down at the opponent, inflicting a high amount of damage.
Change the Future:
is a technique that Future Trunks used against Future Android 18. Future Trunks charges at the opponent, but stops right in front of them and fires a God Breaker in the opponent's face at point blank range. He used this attack to kill Future Android 18.
Burning Attack:
is Future Trunks' signature attack. Future Trunks performs a series of rapid arm movements before placing his palms forward, with the thumbs and index fingers touching each other to form a small diamond shape. Then, he fires an energy sphere from his palms towards the opponent. This attack can be used with one hand, as he has demonstrated while using his sword in his other hand.
Shining Sword Attack:
is a rush attack used by Future Trunks. First, Future Trunks charges at the opponent and kicks them up into the air. Then, he flies up and comes down to vertically slash the opponent with his sword. Next, he slashes the opponent multiple times, chopping them up into bits. Finally, Future Trunks draws his hand back and brings it forward to fire a yellow energy wave at the opponent, inflicting a high amount of damage. Trunks has also been known to use the Burning attack, use it to replace the kick that sends them into the air.
Heat Dome Attack:
is Future Trunks' final and most powerful attack in his Super Saiyan form. First, Future Trunks throws his opponent up in the air and points both his hands up in the air. Then, he charges a large dome of yellow energy around himself. From this energy dome expels a gigantic Finish Buster up at the opponent, inflicting an enormous amount of damage.
Other Abilities:[/b][/u]
Ki Sense:
Mirai Trunks can sense power levels like many other characters in the series.
