PERSONALITY Videl has done a lot of growing up since she was a teenager, although she still retains the qualities that make up her own unique sense of self. Raised within fame, she was, and still is, very tomboyish although has become somewhat more feminine while maturing. She is a very strong, and very stubborn woman who is always determined to get her way no matter how far she has to go in order to do it. Once Videl makes up her mind about something, it is no easy feat to convince her otherwise. Although she has become less likely to anger, she still has a nasty temper if she is pushed to it. Having married and given birth to her baby girl, Videl is not quite as eager to fight as she used to be and would prefer to watch. That doesn't mean she allows herself to become completely soft, as martial arts is part of who she is. She is deeply protective of her family, and would go to the end of the universe for them. Nevertheless, Videl does not let anyone walk over her and speaks her mind whenever she has something to say. Otherwise, Videl has a cheerful disposition and goes out of her way to greet her friends and family. |
HISTORY Early Life |
Videl Satan was raised by her father in the spotlight and as such grew up learning martial arts from the moment she chose to do so. She grew up hoping to be as good as her father, when she was in fact already stronger than him. Her father was always very protective of her, most especially when it came to the male gender of her age.
The Great Saiyaman
Being Mr. Satan's daughter, the police of Satan City had no quarrel with Videl fighting crime. In fact she was often called out of class when there was a situation they required her help with. When Gohan joined the Orange Star High School, Videl was suspicious of him and went as far as to following him around in order to learn more about him. He managed to dodge her quite a few times, though she eventually found him again. Around the same time as Gohan's appearance at school, a masked crime fighter by the name of The Great Saiyaman appeared and began showing up everywhere. The girl was initially angered by this, and became determined to figure out who was beneath the mask. Her friends, Sharpener and Erasa, both had their own reactions towards the new superhero.
Due to her constant suspicions, the young teenager managed to discover that it was Son Gohan beneath the mask of the Great Saiyaman. She learned this by aiding him in returning a stolen baby dinosaur to its true parents who were desperately searching for it. Although there had been some confusion in believing that the Great Saiyaman had stolen the dinosaur from a ringmaster, she quickly learned the truth and helped Gohan. Videl used her newfound knowledge to her benefit, and blackmailed Gohan into teaching her to fly.
Gohan began to teach Videl about energy, and how to utilize it. Upon hearing about using her 'energy', she immediately claimed that they were using tricks because she had never heard about it before. Eventually Gohan was able to prove to her that energy existed, and how she could use it herself. Although she herself does not realize it, it is then that Videl starts to like Gohan as more than just a friend. Videl learned to fly alongside Goten, Gohan's younger brother, and took longer than he did. Each day she practiced she got better and better, and after ten days she was flying like an expert.
During this time, Videl cut her hair upon the suggestion of Gohan. Initially she believed that he just liked girls with shorter hair, but Gohan explained that it would just get in the way during a real fight. When Videl was introduced to Chi-Chi, the older woman questioned Gohan about whether or not he was going to marry the teenager and caused the boy to become highly embarrassed whereas Videl laughed. In the end, the two developed a sweet relationship and ignored teasing from friends.
The World Tournament
Videl quickly became even stronger, especially for a human, and entered the 25th World Tournament. Not too much later, Sharpener sought out the girl with a bouquet of roses and crappy pick-up lines. Despite his advances, Videl only had eyes for Gohan and sought him out the moment she had a chance. She was excited to show off her increased speed in flying due to her constant practicing. Upon landing after a bit of flying around with Gohan, Sharpener was there to meet the two of them. Videl brushed him off by stating that she did spend a lot of time with 'the Great Saiyaman'. Interrupted by the announcer calling for the contestants, Videl took a hold of Gohan's arm and left with him while ignoring Sharpener.
After passing the preliminaries with relative ease, Videl watched the match between Goten and Trunks with Gohan and his family. She was astonished to watch their match, and couldn't believe her eyes. When it came time for Trunks to have an exhibition match against her father, she eagerly watched was matched against Spopovich, a very large and very muscle-bound man. She gained the upper hand quite quickly and even managed to break his neck, although he repaired it. Eventually she began to tire as Spopovich kept getting back up after her attacks. He then took advantage of her tiring and began to beat her around with punch after punch to the stomach and head. For his own twisted enjoyment, Spopovich stepped on Videl's head and pushed down until the girl was brought to tears.
Gohan rushed to her when Yamu told Spopovich to end the match. Spopovich kicked her out of the ring and Gohan immediately picked her up. He carried her to the infirmary, and returned later to heal her with a Senzu Bean. She thanked him for it, though Mr. Satan freaked out, suspicious of the boy, and insisted that she be checked for poisoning.
Babidi, Buu, and the Buu Saga
While watching Gohan's match, Videl noticed that he was in mortal danger from a ki drain by Yamu and Spopovich. She tried to save him from an opponent she had no chance of beating, and was stopped only by being physically restrained by Goku. She readily believed Gohan after he confessed he was both the mysterious Gold Fighter who appeared before Saiyaman and the golden-haired boy at the Cell Games seven years ago, and, having suspected that her father was not telling the truth, came to the conclusion that he beat Super Perfect Cell. She initially wanted to follow and help with the fight, but realized that the enemy was beyond her league and decided to turn back, stating "You better come back, cause I'm not finished with you yet, Gohan."
Videl went along with the group to look for the Dragon Balls. She later took refuge with the group on Kami's lookout where she heared about Gohan's supposed death at the hands of Majin Buu. The young woman broke down crying and confessed her love for him. While everyone presumed Gohan dead, she was the only one who was convinced that he still lived, somehow sensing that fact. A day later, when Super Buu attacked Kami's Lookout looking for the fighter Goku promised him, Piccolo managed to persuade him to wait by telling him that Videl is Mr. Satan's daughter, and later explaining to Videl that Mr. Satan nearly succeeded in convincing Buu to change his ways. Ultimately, when Gotenks failed to stop Buu, she, along with everyone else at the lookout, was turned into chocolate and eaten.
Final Battle and Ten Years Later
She ended up in heaven and searched for Gohan, along with Dabura, Chi-Chi and Bulma, but they could not find him. However, even though she was dead, Videl was convinced that Gohan was still alive. This commitment to Gohan convinced the once evil Dabura that he was in the presence of true love, a feeling that he never knew before, which embarrassed Videl since Chi-Chi was present. She didn't know that Gohan passed away when Kid Buu annihilated Earth.
After both she and Gohan came back to life and they met again, Videl was happy at seeing 'the big jerk' again. Later, she became Gohan's partner in fighting crime as The Great Saiyaman II (alternately known as Saiyawoman or Saiyagirl), sporting a similar outfit and participating in the same poses she earlier found ridiculous.
Some years later she eventually married Gohan, giving birth to a daughter named Pan. She attended the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament to cheer on her family ten years later, only to have the Tournament cut short by Goku's sudden departure.[/blockquote]
