PERSONALITY Shouga is a gentle, light-hearted soul and is a pacifist to the core. He avoids physical conflict as much as possible, rather preferring to solve things through a mediator or by just talking things out. He is very kind to everyone, no matter how they initially treat him and never means to purposely cause harm to anyone. Generally he wears a calm, serene smile that only ever falters when his normal inner calm is broken with any variety of emotions. As the oldest sibling, he firmly believes in upholding duty before personal issues. However he does manage to find sympathy for those who don't understand why duty is so important and does not neglect his rebellious family. Although Shouga is determined to complete his duty, he does not force it upon anyone else even though he will make off-handed attempts to convince them to do so. |
HISTORY The eldest royal offspring was born a mere few months to the King and Queen of the Ikikesan race before planet Spice was purged by the Saiyajin. His parents managed to survive and escape along with many of their people, although nearly quadruple that amount died on the planet. Due to the fact that he was just a newborn, Shouga has no memories of their home world and grew up seeking ways to make their new home more bearable for everyone. He never had a 'wild stage' as he grew older, and always understood the value of duty over freewill. His parents explained the idea of arranged marriage to Shouga when he was thirteen, allowing him to prepare for the future when his bride was to be chosen for him. The young prince didn't enjoy the thought very much at all but grudgingly accepted it as part of his duty. The thought of marriage became akin to that of eating his least favourite food, as he didn't dare to hope for a love bond. Shouga trained with people from the royal guard, as well as the Ikikesan monks, in order to become better in tune with both his own body and the gaian energies. He constantly had to remind his trainers not to go easy on him just because he was the crown prince. When he was sixteen, Supaisu Tsuyoi was assigned to be his personal bodyguard and he couldn't have asked for a better guard. They quickly grew to be close friends, working off of each other's personalities and quirks to be almost like brothers. Wherever Shouga was, Supaisu was usually right there with him or in his shadow. His training ended when he turned seventeen and was betrothed to Keihi, the daughter of a Council member. Shouga was exuberant upon being told he was to bond with her, as they had already admitted to one another about their enjoyment of each other's company. All in all, their bond was one made out of love and not awkward acceptance. For the first two years of their marriage hardly anyone saw either of the two as they deepened their bond with one another and attempted to have children. Many days were filled with content silence in their home, as they could sense what one another wanted or needed at any given moment. Shouga was happy just lying in bed for hours on end cuddling with his beautiful wife, amazed that he was lucky enough to be able to have someone to love so intimately for the rest of their lives. Although the couple tried and tried, Keihi never seemed to be able to conceive even with help from healers and the constant connection to the gaian energies. There were three occasions on which it appeared that they had succeeded and would be finally given the baby they wanted, but Keihi ended up miscarrying on each occasion at varying times in the pregnancy. It drove the bonded pair to be overly emotional, or overly closed off randomly to the outside world while they secluded themselves in misery. Unlike some of the couples bonded, they actually really wanted to have children and raise a family together. Finally it was Supaisu and Shouga's siblings who pulled them out of their depression and brought them back out into the outside world. Soon after their re-emerging, the couple were present to witness the announcement of Supaisu's engagement to Sansho. He was immensely pleased at this, due to the fact that the two got along so well already. However, he was sent into a shock when Sansho fled on the day of her wedding. Supaisu on the other hand, was his usual cheery self and merely cracked a joke at his own expense causing his charge to sigh. Shouga and Keihi continued to try to have children, and were put through another three miscarriages. One of her miscarriages occurred when the Earth was destroyed and the gaian energies were massively disrupted. Shouga had been having dinner with his guard and his wife at the time, and ended up on the floor with a minor seizure at the fracture in energy. He woke two days later and could barely function enough to tend to his weaker wife. Not a single Ikikesan was left untouched by the general weakening, and it took a slightly extended time for the prince's wife to recover although many believed that she never truly did heal completely. At long last they were given a miracle in the form of a baby girl when they were both twenty-five. Princess Kaya Shichimi Togarashi was a small baby, and a smiling bundle of joy. From the moment Shouga laid eyes on her, he had fallen in love all over again and constantly doted on his daughter as much as he did his wife. The three were watched over by Supaisu when he wasn't training and enjoyed quiet bliss. It was three years later when that bliss was shattered once again. Keihi was killed by bandits while taking a walk with two of her friends, leaving behind a grieving husband and a confused daughter. Shouga's calm shattered the moment her life force left her body and he became listless, unable to fully function at a level proper for the crown prince. He had felt the blade tear into his own flesh and had felt the falter of Keihi's heart. There are times when Shouga believes he even felt her last breathes, and he often clings to that old pain. Supaisu literally took Shouga by the shoulders after four months and shook him hard, reminding him that he had a daughter to look after and duties to attend to. Shouga slowly climbed out of his miserable state with much help from his daughter and his guard as well as his siblings. Two years quickly passed by as Shouga returned to his normal self and doted every waking moment on his Kaya. Then it was time for his friend to find his runaway bride, and Supaisu set off in search of her. After a long period of said man being away, Kaya begged and pleaded for Shouga to go find her surrogate uncle. With permission from his parents, the crown prince left the desert colony with his daughter in order to find out if his friend was successful in finding Sansho. |
